The Wesley Hospital East Wing

Auchenflower, Queensland

Enhancing Care for Patients in Brisbane

The Wesley Hospital East Wing Project was designed to respond to the evolving needs of a growing population by improving patient access, enhancing care delivery, and fostering medical innovation. The project’s focus was on consolidating inpatient services and expanding key support functions to enable more integrated and efficient healthcare.

A new nine-storey inpatient wing was constructed to increase capacity and streamline clinical pathways. It delivers 150 acute care beds, a dedicated day surgery unit, and a specialised rehabilitation floor supporting cardiac recovery and pain management—outcomes that improve continuity of care and patient recovery times.

The inclusion of a top-floor clinical research facility, developed in partnership with The Wesley Research Institute, supports long-term medical advancement through education, training, and translational research. This strategic investment positions The Wesley as a leader in evidence-based care, where learnings directly inform clinical practice.

The project also addressed key infrastructure gaps by expanding carparking with an additional 483 spaces and integrating new medical suites and commercial tenancies, improving patient and practitioner accessibility.

The project was delivered in collaboration with PDT Architects.
