Adeney Private Hospital

Adeney Private Hospital is a purpose-built facility designed to deliver patient-centred care through a collaborative model between a doctor-led joint venture and Medibank. Located in Kew, Melbourne, the hospital marks a new typology in Australian healthcare, with zero out-of-pocket expenses for privately insured patients. 

Replacing an outdated facility, Adeney was conceived to meet growing demand for high-quality, specialist care closer to home. Its carefully considered design by Studio STH supports faster recovery times and greater continuity of care by co-locating surgery, oncology, radiology, and recovery services within a single, modern environment.

The four-storey, 8,370m² building features advanced operating theatres, a procedure room, radiology suites, a chemotherapy clinic, and 30 private inpatient beds, with access supported by a subterranean car park.

The facility supports a wide range of specialities including Orthopaedics, ENT, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, and Oncology, enabling streamlined access to expert care in a calm, patient-friendly setting. The development reflects a broader shift in healthcare delivery— toward more agile, locally accessible, and outcome-driven models, and a more financially reassuring experience for patients.
