Logan Hospital Expansion Stage 2
Meadowbrook, Queensland
The Logan Hospital Expansion Stage 2 project addresses the growing demand for healthcare services in one of Queensland’s largest and fastest-growing regions. Designed in collaboration with PWC Architects, the design intent is to future-proof the hospital. The expansion enhances capacity and functionality, ensuring the facility can meet the needs of patients, staff, and visitors both now and in the years to come.
Key outcomes include the addition of 112 inpatient beds, 10 operating theatres (with shell space for four more), and six endoscopy rooms, significantly increasing the hospital’s ability to deliver critical care. The project also introduces a centralised sterilisation services department, expanded pharmacy, and three catheterisation laboratories, including one for interventional radiology, improving efficiency and patient outcomes.

The design prioritises seamless integration with the existing hospital infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption to operations during construction. A new operational loading dock and back-of-house facilities, including staff amenities and optimised logistics for goods and waste, enhance operational efficiency and support the hospital’s day-to-day functions.
By incorporating shell spaces for future expansion, the project anticipates ongoing growth, ensuring the hospital remains adaptable to evolving healthcare needs. The expansion not only increases capacity but also elevates the standard of care, creating a modern, efficient, and patient-centred facility that serves as a cornerstone of the community’s health and well-being.
