The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, NSW : Teaching, Training & Research Facility

Redevelopment of an existing facility into a modern 810 bed Level 6 major quaternary/tertiary hospital. A new curved 9 level tower block of polished white concrete and zinc provides specialist medical, laboratory and research/education facilities. An atrium with curved glass walls and suspended staircases is an architectural highlight of the project and floods surrounding areas with natural light. It also signifies a key entry point and acts as a wayfinding tool through the new building. The result is a hospital that now promotes flexibility, patient centred care and staff efficiency. The education componenet features state of the art auditorium and lecture theatres. RPA development is in a heritage and educational precinct.
