The Rehabilitation Centre is the first stage of a site redevelopment of the St Georges Campus of St Vincents Health. The five stage master plan by STH is estimated to cost $77m. A range of therapies are provided including: Occupational; Speech; Dietetic, Podiatry and Physiotherapy. The facility includes kitchens and a large gymnasium with a specialised neuro therapy area. The gymnasium has good visual supervision from staff with the adjacent work area to one side. The consulting areas and gymnasium receive generous day lighting and pleasant external views over the surrounding residential setting. The site planning connects the new facility centrally into the existing main building with the new building raised above its sloping terrain to connect at the existing main floor level and allow future infill below. A key design feature of the building is the concealment of all plant within the roof space forms to suit the residential setting. Plans are currently underway to utilise the under croft space for the next stage of the development.
