Geelong Hospital Emergency Department

The scope of this 54 bed project consists of decommissioning and demolition of the Ryrie Centre, and development of a new tower in the location of the former Ryrie Centre. New central tower accommodates the expansion of the existing Emergency Department at level 1, Organisational Safety / HMO’s / Engineering at level 2, and a shelf space at level 3 for future expansion.

The Emergency Department is designed with streaming of patients in mind from patient presentation to dedicated assessment areas including; Fast Track, Adult, Paediatrics, Resuscitation and Mental Health. Also, two additional X-ray rooms are provided in the adjoining Medical Imaging area that are intended to primarily serve the Emergency Department, Whilst providing back-up to the existing Medical Imaging service.

A separate and dedicated staff zone with its own separate administrative entry and reception provides an opportunity for retreat from the clinical activities of the department.
