Gold Coast Construction Underway
Construction on the new Gold Coast hospital is fully underway. The $1.76 billion project, is due for completion in 2012, and will deliver a brand new 750 bed hospital and new health services for the Gold Coast area.
Acting Premier and Minister for Health Paul
Lucas recently announced Bovis Lend Lease had been appointed to manage stage two
of the construction. Mr Lucas said 2,300 construction workers are expected on site when construction peaks.
“Importantly, it will ... create more than 9,800 local jobs over the
life of the project."
“The 19 hectare site is the size of about 28 football fields – this
is a massive investment in health care on the Coast.”
